The John Rylands Library

cultural

A joint photographic commission for Donald Insall Associates (architect) and Nissen Richards Studio (exhibition design), documenting the ‘John Rylands Next Chapter’ project.

The building, which is celebrating its 125th birthday, has been sensitively upgraded for both visitors and staff.

The £7.6m transformation of the Grade I-listed John Rylands Library in Manchester – one of Europe’s finest neo-Gothic buildings – includes new entrance, retail and event spaces, remodelling of exhibition spaces and new wayfinding and graphics. Back-of-house improvements include the creation of a state-of-the-art imaging laboratory.
