I was commissioned by Nissen Richards Studio to photograph the atmospheric interior spaces of the historic cottage, as well as externals showing the relationship between the cottage and surrounding Lake District landscape.
Restoration of the cottage, by Nissen Richards Studio and Purcell UK, is the first phase of the major Wordsworth Grasmere project that also includes an expanded museum, new café facilities and learning centre. Client is the Wordsworth Trust.
It was an extremely interesting building to photograph. We captured the spaces using natural light, augmented largely by candlelight and the glow from fireplaces.
