Soane's drawing office

public buildings

Prior to its restoration, I was commissioned to record Sir John Soane's Drawing Office in its current state.

Perched atop the Colonnade within Sir John Soane's Museum, the Drawing Office is the earliest surviving example of a working architectural studio. To mark the 200th anniversary of its installation, the museum successfully completed an  ambitious programme to raise £500,000 for its restoration and renewal.

Work is now underway, and completion in 2023 will allow members of the public to visit the space for the first time. A new residency programme is also being launched, allowing artists and makers to draw inspiration from the unique architecture and museum collection, just as Sir John Soane's pupils once did. New digital interpretation will include virtual tours, allowing people from around the world to explore more of the museum online than ever before.
