Santa Caterina Market, Barcelona

Alex Mowat of Mowat & Company chose Santa Caterina Market in Barcelona as his inspiration. Designed by Enric Miralles Benedetta Tagliabue (EMBT) and completed in 2005, it was chosen as a project that is both civic and civilised, balancing different priorities and combining new with old. "It's very egalitarian, a nice building to have in your neighbourhood," he observes.
