Georgian Illuminations

I was commissioned to photograph both the interior and external elements of the Georgian Illuminations exhibition at Sir John Soane's Museum.

The exhibition examines the Georgian fashion for elaborate light shows, and included a pair of ultra-rare large-scale linen transparencies. They were created to be backlit in Georgian windows during the Napoleonic wars.

A contemporary reinterpretation has been produced by light artist Nayan Kulkarni, who has created a dynamic work illuminating the museum's facade.
